Indianapolis, March 4, 2014. Making its debut at NTEA’s The Work Truck Show tomorrow, the all-new Conti TerraPlus HD3 drive tire from Continental Tire the Americas promises to take the show by storm with an all-new, aggressive tread pattern designed for Class 4 and 5 working trucks.
The Conti TerraPlus HD3 (Heavy Drive 3rd Generation) will be on display in the Continental Commercial Vehicle Tire booth at The Work Truck show in size 225/70R19.5. According to Continental engineers, this high traction, deep lug tread pattern and chip and chunk resistant tread compound is a new benchmark for working heavy duty pickups, landscaping trucks, utility trucks and other vocational trucks that frequently work in off-road conditions.
“Our new Conti TerraPlus HD3 was designed specifically for working trucks and heavy pickups which, due to the terrain, demand improved traction and a more aggressive lug pattern than the typical 19.5 inch tire provides. We’re bringing this new tire to our customers at the NTEA Work Truck Show today to let them take an advance look at this product before its official launch in May of this year,” said Wes Garber, director of original equipment sales for Continental’s Commercial Vehicle Tire group.
With the potential to be the first tire to reach the market as a specialized off-road, high traction drive product for 19.5 inch sizes, the TerraPlus HD3 will have 19/32nds tread depth and a specialized pattern with open shoulder design to increase traction. An off-road belt package makes the tire more suited to the severe service, off road environments and more resistant to damage such as stone penetration.
“We anticipate that pickup truck enthusiasts, as well as people who depend on their vocational trucks to operate every day in mud, snow, gravel and off-road conditions, will be very interested in the new TerraPlus HD3,” Garber said. The tire, along with some other Continental concept tire designs for vocational trucks and heavy pickups, will be on display for the duration of the March 5-7 show at the Indiana Convention Center, booth 2402.
